Rituals of Renewal: Closing One Year, Welcoming the Next

ree

Every year, beginning in November, I naturally start turning inward. I go back through the months slowly—no rush, no pressure—and I review my life in every one of its dimensions: personal, professional, relational, emotional, physical. I take my time. I look at what grew, what challenged me, what surprised me, and what I want to carry forward.

And then, little by little, I start clearing space for the new year.I clean out my closet. I organize my home. I reach out to friends I may have unintentionally drifted from. I prune, I release, I make room. This has become my ritual—simple, grounding, intentional.

Recently, I had an interesting conversation with one of the coaches in our community, Ahtziry García, licensed psychologist and Chinese medicine Doctor, about New Year rituals—what they mean, where they come from, and why this moment of the year holds so much energy for reflection. She spoke about the difference between the Gregorian calendar and the lunar calendars that follow nature’s rhythms. There is something very powerful about acknowledging that winter, regardless of the date, is an inner season of rest and introspection.

It’s not just a cultural moment—it’s an energetic one. A time to pause.

To look back. To look gently at yourself.

In our conversation, we both agreed that rituals—whether it’s cleaning your home, eating the twelve grapes, lighting a candle, or setting your intentions—can be deeply meaningful when done consciously. They help you mark the ending of a chapter and the beginning of another. They help you enter the new year awake and present, instead of on autopilot.

And maybe the most important reminder she and I landed on was this: joy matters

Yes, reflection is important. Yes, intention is important. But joy is a spiritual practice too. Celebrating how far you’ve come.

Honoring the resilience that carried you through. Allowing yourself to feel excitement for what’s ahead.

Inside the Seekers Circle community, every month we go into a topic that supports conscious growth and co-elevation. And this season of transition—this moment between years—is one of the most powerful. If you want support in grounding your intentions or calming any uncertainty that comes with change, we have 2 meditations that can support you, “Future Self Meditation: Design Your Life with Clear Intention” and “Stop Worrying: A Powerful Meditation for Embracing the Unknown” meditations and guide that can help hold you through the process.

As you step into the new year, my invitation is simple:

Do it consciously.

Do it slowly.

Do it with joy.
